BlackBerry<\/a> launched a promotional campaign telling people that \u201cYou can continue to count on BlackBerry\u201d – but when it comes to its planned BBM<\/a> for Android<\/a> and iPhone<\/a> apps the company has lost the trust of many consumers.<\/p>\n

BlackBerry told consumers that they will launch BBM for Android and iPhone on 21 September and 22 September respectively.<\/p>\n

This launch did not happen as promised, and the company blamed the delay on problems caused by an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app which was posted online.<\/p>\n

The company did not provide a new launch date, but did say in a Twitter post on 30 September 2013 that it is \u201cStill 100% committed to bringing #BBM to Android and iPhone\u201d.<\/p>\n

This is the last update from BlackBerry on its planned BBM for Android and iPhone apps, and the company is simply putting its head in the sand when asked for an update on this project.<\/p>\n

MyBroadband asked BlackBerry South Africa for an update, but they merely said that \u201cWe will let you know as soon as an update is available\u201d.<\/p>\n

Despite this delay and widespread criticism from consumers, BlackBerry continues to boast about BBM for Android and iPhone.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are bringing the most engaging mobile messaging platform to all, with our BBM launch for Android and iPhone,\u201d BlackBerry said in its open letter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are already around six million customers pre-registered to be notified of our roll out,\u201d said BlackBerry.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis number is growing every day, and speaks to the tremendous opportunity we have to expand BBM beyond BlackBerry smartphones to make it the world\u2019s largest mobile social network.\u201d<\/p>\n
