Multiple hardware failures have led to voice, hosting, and e-mail downtime at Vox Telecom on Friday (18 October 2013), Shane Chorley, executive head of network and operations has told MyBroadband.<\/p>\n
Chorley has said that their network layer is working and that Internet customers, such as those using their @lantic consumer services, are unaffected.<\/p>\n
Some @lantic customers may be affected in terms of e-mail, Chorley said.<\/p>\n
“We run a carrier-grade storage environment,” Chorley said. However, “multiple engines” have experienced failure, causing significant outages to Vox’s services.<\/p>\n
Asked what the estimated time to repair is, Chorley said that the hardware that failed is being replaced.<\/p>\n
He explained that not only is there a lead-time on the hardware, but there is a lead-time on the resynchronisation of data to ensure there is no data loss.<\/p>\n
Chorley said that it is impossible for him to meaningfully estimate how long the repair would take at this stage.<\/p>\n
