The security flaw, which involved SMS messaging, was revealed by a pair of researchers on Thursday at the Black Hat computer security conference in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

“This morning, less than 24 hours after the demonstration of this exploit, we’ve issued a free software update that eliminates the vulnerability from the iPhone,” Tom Neumayr, an Apple spokesman, said.<\/p>\n

“Contrary to what’s been reported no one has been able to take control of the iPhone to gain access to personal information using this exploit,” he said.<\/p>\n

Owners of iPhones<\/a> will be prompted to download the software update when they next plug their iPhones into a computer.<\/p>\n

According to technology news agency CNET, the security flaw involved sending SMS messages that could allow hackers to take control of an iPhone.<\/p>\n
