{"id":90787,"date":"2013-10-31T11:37:12","date_gmt":"2013-10-31T09:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=90787"},"modified":"2013-10-31T11:38:59","modified_gmt":"2013-10-31T09:38:59","slug":"starsat-formerly-toptv-going-hd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/90787-starsat-formerly-toptv-going-hd.html","title":{"rendered":"StarSat, formerly TopTV, going HD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Digital Media (ODM) announced on Thursday, 31 October 2013 that it was relaunching its satellite pay TV offering as \u201cStarSat\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to a new name, ODM said it will also be launching a new decoder capable of receiving high definition (HD) broadcasts.<\/p>\n<p>When asked whether this means that the newly launched StarSat has HD channels, ODM interim CEO Eddie Mbalo said that they do not have HD channels as yet.<\/p>\n<p>He said that they are forward-looking so they are providing an HD-capable box.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to Mbalo\u2019s statement, StarTimes president Pang Xinxing said that they do plan to gradually launch HD channels \u201cvery soon\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor example, we have an HD feed of Discovery, NBA channel, and the Bollywood movie channel,\u201d Xinxing said.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"related\">More SA broadcasting news<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/90779-toptv-is-dead-long-live-starsat.html\"><strong>TopTV is dead.
