The speedtest application reports a max download speed of only 18.32Kbit/s,” explained one Vodacom Blackberry subscriber. “On my Blackberry Storm web browsing is at least 10 times slower than on my notebook, making it virtually unusable,” said another.

Vodacom Blackberry subscribers are increasingly agitated at the poor service levels with some users reporting a total or partial loss of connectivity. “No data at all today. Web keeps timing out and my mail isn’t even coming through,” said one user. “I travel quite a lot and noticed in JHB and Pretoria earlier that nothing worked apart from mail coming through,” said another.

Capacity issues on the Vodacom Blackberry link seems to be the main culprit for the poor speeds, and this is something which Vodacom has now addressed. “Due to several factors, Vodacom experienced some congestion on an international transmission link used to support the BlackBerry service,” said a Vodacom spokesperson.

“The capacity of this link has been doubled over the past few days, and further upgrades are already planned. As a result, current BlackBerry users should already have noticed an improvement in the BlackBerry service.”

Vodacom Blackberry discussion

[14

post-9096","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-cellular
