CareerJunction recently launched its Information Technology job report, providing analysis on the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market. According to the report general recruitment continues to ease as demand drops and more career seekers enter the job market in search of employment.<\/p>\n
Recruitment in the IT and Engineering fields however remained challenging with less than ten suitable candidates per advertised position. “Some industries however remain difficult to recruit in as the supply pool of potential labour is limited. This is seen in the Information Technology and Engineering industries as there are less than 10 potential career seekers available for each job advert placed,” Careerjunction said.<\/p>\n
While the CareerJunction Index (CJI) shows a strong supply in IT jobseekers, there has been negative growth in the IT industry in terms of supply. “On analysis of supply for the foremost industry sectors in the previous 12 months, most industry sectors display a growing trend. The Information Technology sector seems to be the only sector experiencing negative growth. Since July 2008, supply in the Information Technology sector has reduced by over 1000 career seekers,” the CJI report states.<\/p>\n
The challenging recruitment conditions are however not an indication of more job advertisement. Over the last twelve months the number of IT jobs declined by 67%, and indication of a far lower demand for IT professionals. “The Engineering and Information Technology industries face difficult recruitment conditions. Both industries have experienced a remarkable drop in labour demand over the last three quarters,” the CJI report states.<\/p>\n
The lower demand for IT professionals does however not mean that it is easy to find IT professionals who are suitable for the advertised position. Only around 6 potential career seekers are suitable for every advertised IT job, the second lowest rate of all industries.<\/p>\n
