{"id":92045,"date":"2013-11-20T10:48:16","date_gmt":"2013-11-20T08:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=92045"},"modified":"2013-11-20T10:58:43","modified_gmt":"2013-11-20T08:58:43","slug":"e-toll-launch-date-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/government\/92045-e-toll-launch-date-announced.html","title":{"rendered":"E-toll launch date announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Transport Minister Dipuo Peters has announced that e-tolls will commence on 3 December 2013 on Gauteng\u2019s highways.<\/p>\n<p>In September, President Jacob Zuma signed into law the Transport Laws and Related Matters Amendment Bill, giving Sanral the nod to start e-tolling on Gauteng\u2019s freeways.<\/p>\n<p>DA Premier Candidate for Gauteng, Mmusi Maimane, on Tuesday (19 November) outlined his plan to fight e-tolling in Gauteng as part of an election campaign ahead of the 2014 elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to fight against this system at every turn,\u201d Maimane said.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the DA submitted papers to the High Court. The party is of the view that the \u201ce-tolling\u201d Bill was incorrectly passed by Parliament and signed into law by President Jacob Zuma.
