iBurst today announced that it is giving away 500 Megabytes of data to Internet users willing to participate in the first trials of its new Wireless Prepaid Internet service.<\/p>\n
The iBurst Prepaid product is set to launch commercially in mid September and iBurst has extended an invitation to anyone who may have an old iBurst modem that is currently not in use to help test the service before it is officially launched.<\/p>\n
“Prepaid Internet from iBurst is set to address the requirements of consumers who don’t want to be locked into long-term contracts and want absolute control over their Internet spending. Internet users who prefer a ‘pay as you go’ option will be able to better manage their usage and expenditure,” the broadband provider said in a press statement.<\/p>\n
iBurst added that current subscribers on a month-to-month contract may also migrate to the new prepaid option.<\/p>\n
“We are eager to receive input regarding our new prepaid product and in turn we will reward broadband users with 500MB of data upfront in order to test the service thoroughly. All users need to do is switch on their old iBurst modems and register,” says Jannie van Zyl, CEO of iBurst.<\/p>\n
Van Zyl says iBurst’s Prepaid Internet offering is available wherever iBurst has coverage. Data vouchers, similar to mobile top up vouchers are available in a range of denominations, from 50MB to 2 Gigabytes, with a price per megabyte ranging from R1 to 25 cents depending on the bundle. These vouchers will be available for purchase directly from the iBurst website, iBurst retail stores and selected reseller outlets. <\/p>\n
He says the Prepaid offer forms part of iBurst’s drive to get more South Africans exposed to the benefits of broadband internet. The company will be offering brand new internet users a Prepaid Starter Kit which includes a USB modem, an installation disk, 30MB of data, a user name and an email address all for under R1000. The Prepaid offering will be made available commercially from September 2009.<\/p>\n
“Prepaid services are one of the fastest growing markets in the South Africa, and iBurst is uniquely positioned to meet the requirement for affordable wireless access to the Internet for the man on the street, without them having to go through the credit vetting process”, Van Zyl adds.<\/p>\n
“If users have an iBurst modem currently not in use and would like to participate in the user trial all they need to do is switch on the modem. A registration screen will then pop up prompting users to register their details. The 500MB is then automatically loaded and they are can start the trial immediately,” iBurst concluded.<\/p>\n
