{"id":94342,"date":"2014-01-06T10:05:36","date_gmt":"2014-01-06T08:05:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=94342"},"modified":"2014-01-06T10:07:14","modified_gmt":"2014-01-06T08:07:14","slug":"e-tolls-sms-email-bill-warning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/government\/94342-e-tolls-sms-email-bill-warning.html","title":{"rendered":"E-tolls SMS, email bill warning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many South Africans have taken to online platforms like <a title=\"Twitter\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/359584-Twitter\">Twitter<\/a> and <a title=\"Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/348566-Facebook\">Facebook<\/a> to complain about incorrect e-toll bills which were sent to them via e-mail and SMS.<\/p>\n<p>Many users reported that they received very high bills when they only used the toll roads once or twice. Others reported that they received e-toll bills without ever using Gauteng\u2019s roads.<\/p>\n<p>Last week Beeld reported that a man who has been dead since October 2012 <a title=\"E-toll SMS bill\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/government\/94326-e-toll-sms-sent-to-dead-man.html\"><strong>received an SMS warning that he had overdue e-toll fees of R612.21<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter user Florah-M said that <a title=\"Sanral\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/372008-SANRAL\">Sanral<\/a> had contacted her mother via SMS to tell her she owed R380 \u2014 this despite the fact that her mother lives in Limpopo and does not own a car.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy dad stays in Limpopo but received an SMS from Sanral as well for R1,023,\u201d said Neal Collins, football columnist for The New Age.<\/p>\n<p>Former Financial Mail editor Barney Mthombothi was less diplomatic, asking \u201cCan Sanral be trusted to tell the truth?
