Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko has held talks with media companies such as Comcast, Bertelsmann, Naspers, and Netflix, Bloomberg reported<\/a> on Friday, 10 January 2013.<\/p>\n

According to Bloomberg, the talks to carry content on Telkom\u2019s fixed-line networks are part of an effort by Maseko to boost revenue.<\/p>\n

The Bloomberg report confirms information MyBroadband received from a source<\/a> in October 2013.<\/p>\n

Telkom\u2019s plans to offer online media content are no secret, with the company saying that it wanted to offer \u201cmedia-rich content\u201d with its very-high-bitrate digital subscriber line services.<\/p>\n

VDSL launched commercially in South Africa during March 2013.<\/p>\n

Telkom has also been running a promotion which offers uncapped data from a number of online video content services.<\/p>\n

The promotion includes DStv Catch Up online, DStv BoxOffice online, Apple TV (iTunes), and Samsung Video Hub, and is set to run until 31 March 2014.<\/p>\n
