Don&#8217;t worry about it!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"MTN\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226943-MTN\">MTN<\/a> South Africa customers need not be concerned about the recent warning from the network\u2019s CEO, <a title=\"Zunaid Bulbulia\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/341385-Zunaid-Bulbulia\">Zunaid Bulbulia<\/a>, that it might experience rolling blackouts, a company spokesperson has told MyBroadband.<\/p>\n<p>Bulbulia was previously quoted by Bloomberg as saying that the recent <a title=\"New call termination cuts announced\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/95726-new-call-termination-cuts-announced.html\">call termination rate cuts<\/a> announced by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (<a title=\"Icasa\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/462443-Independent-Communications-Authority-of-South-Africa-%28ICASA%29\">Icasa<\/a>) would lead to \u201can Eskom-type outcome\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Icasa unveiled the new call termination rates on Wednesday, 29 January 2014, which will see mobile termination rates reduced from the current 40c per minute to 10c per minute over the next three years.<\/p>\n<p>These reductions would have dire consequences for the local mobile industry, Bulbulia told Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<p>He warned of rolling blackouts on the network due to a lack of free cash in their business, also saying that local jobs and investments will be placed at risk.<\/p>\n<p>This raises the question: should MTN customers consider alternative options so long?<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for MTN said that its subscribers need not fear, however.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMTN customers should not be concerned.
