{"id":96153,"date":"2014-02-04T16:15:56","date_gmt":"2014-02-04T14:15:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=96153"},"modified":"2014-02-04T16:38:23","modified_gmt":"2014-02-04T14:38:23","slug":"microsoft-names-new-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/business\/96153-microsoft-names-new-ceo.html","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft names new CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Microsoft Corp\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/211580-Microsoft\">Microsoft Corp<\/a> named <a title=\"Satya Nadella\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/544249-Satya-Nadella\">Satya Nadella<\/a> as its next chief executive officer on Tuesday, ending a longer-than-expected search for a new leader after <a title=\"Steve Ballmer\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/331356-Steve-Ballmer\">Steve Ballmer<\/a> announced his intention to retire in August.<\/p>\n<p>Nadella is only the third CEO in Microsoft&#8217;s 39-year history, following co-founder <a title=\"Bill Gates\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/360678-Bill-Gates\">Bill Gates<\/a> and Ballmer.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft also announced that John Thompson, lead independent director, will succeed Gates as chairman.
