{"id":97283,"date":"2014-02-23T13:48:27","date_gmt":"2014-02-23T11:48:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=97283"},"modified":"2014-02-24T08:26:20","modified_gmt":"2014-02-24T06:26:20","slug":"doesnt-this-just-make-you-angry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/97283-doesnt-this-just-make-you-angry.html","title":{"rendered":"Doesn\u2019t this just make you angry?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/213919-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> has continued its aggressive advertising campaign against <a title=\"MTN\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226943-MTN\">MTN<\/a>\u2019s decision to fight the recently released call termination regulations with a full page advertisement in the Sunday Times.<\/p>\n<p>The advertisement states \u201cDoesn\u2019t this just make you angry\u201d, with an extract of the legal document which MTN lodged in the High Court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are challenging regulations that were designed to create more competition in the cellular industry and ultimately result in lower prices for you,\u201d the ad states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo ask yourself, do you want lower prices,\u201d the ad continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe you should change to the network that cut call rates long ago because it\u2019s the right thing to do. A network that offer the lowest guaranteed flat call rate in South Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe you should change to Cell C. After all, the power is in your hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>MTN High Court extract in the ad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i>ICASA&#8217;s stated objective with the asymmetry is to reduce retail rates. Both Cell C and Telkom have announced they will use the new asymmetry regime to reduce their retail pricing. In support of this, I attach a bundle of press reports marked &#8220;ZB 18&#8221;. If Cell C and Telkom Mobile were to reduce their retail prices during the period before the review is determined, it would cause a permanent change to the market that would be irreversible even if the review were to succeed.
