Afrihost recently shook up the ADSL market with its below-cost R 29 per GB ADSL data bundles.  This news follows numerous other announcements by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) about ADSL price reductions.<\/p>\n

While some of the price cuts were directly related to lower international bandwidth rates from SEACOM, others seem to be a result of increased competition rather than lower wholesale pricing.<\/p>\n

As the only ADSL infrastructure provider in the country Telkom still sets the de-facto pricing standard, and it remains a suitable benchmark to evaluate the relative cost of an ADSL service in relation to current market rates.<\/p>\n

The following table provides a snapshot of the latest pricing changes and how it compares with other ADSL offerings in the market.<\/p>\n
