A large number of broadcasters offering a live stream of the trial of Oscar Pistorius have engaged the services of GlobeCast, according to GlobeCast South Africa\u2019s technical director, Doug Suttie.<\/p>\n
While answering questions about the technology used, Suttie said that he is providing a live video feed to most major media organisations.<\/p>\n
These include: Reuters, Associated Press, BBC, Sky, EBU, CNN, ITN, Channel 7 Australia, ESP, ZDF, ARD, and locally, the SABC and eNCA.<\/p>\n
GlobeCast also provides its feed to Combined Artists, the production company behind Carte Blanche and the dedicated Oscar trial channel on DStv.<\/p>\n
Suttie explained that as a broadcast organisation, GlobeCast Africa doesn\u2019t really offer Internet streaming services unless specifically requested by a client.<\/p>\n
In the case of the court room feed from the Pistorius trial, he said that they provide high- and standard-definition serial digital interface signals (HD-SDI and SD-SDI) over a fibre link to broadcasters that are set up across the road from the High Court.<\/p>\n
From there the broadcasters are able to put the feed online if they so wish, as in the case of eNCA, SABC News, and others.<\/p>\n
GlobeCast are also distributing the feed to some clients over satellite, Suttie said.<\/p>\n
Live streams of the courtroom proceedings are available from a variety of media houses, including eNCA and SABC news:<\/p>\n
DStv also has a dedicated channel for the Oscar Pistorius trial available via its satellite platform on channel 199, and as a streaming service for DStv Compact, Extra, and Premium subscribers:<\/p>\n
