{"id":99182,"date":"2014-03-24T12:25:43","date_gmt":"2014-03-24T10:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=99182"},"modified":"2014-03-24T17:21:20","modified_gmt":"2014-03-24T15:21:20","slug":"eassy-100g-upgrade-telkom-active-participant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/99182-eassy-100g-upgrade-telkom-active-participant.html","title":{"rendered":"EASSy 100 Gigabit upgrade \u2013 Telkom \u201cactive participant\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Telkom\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227037-Telkom\">Telkom<\/a> announced in a press statement on Monday, 24 March 2014, that it is an active participant in the latest upgrades to the East African Submarine System the (<a title=\"EASSy\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/216377-EASSy\">EASSy<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The EASSy consortium recently announced that they will soon deploy 100 gigabit-per-second technology to enable a carry capacity in excess of 10 Terabits per second.<\/p>\n<p>EASSy is implemented in a protected ring configuration linking eight countries on the East Coast of Africa from Sudan to South Africa, Telkom said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTelkom embraces this innovation and progress by supporting this EASSy upgrade for an additional 400Gbps capacity.
