Microsoft’s general manager for Office, Julia White, announced the launch of Office for iPad at an event in San Francisco, California on Thursday, 27 March 2014.<\/p>\n
Rumours of the app\u2019s launch emerged last week, suggesting that Office for iPad will be new Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella\u2019s first big product launch.<\/p>\n
The app includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and is set to launch in the App Store by 20:00 (SAST).<\/p>\n
White said that Office for iPad is not simply the Windows app ported to Apple\u2019s popular tablet PC, but is \u201call native\u201d.<\/p>\n
Files created or edited in Office for iPad will look exactly as they did on the tablet when opened in the desktop apps, and vice versa, White said.<\/p>\n
Regarding price, White said that Office for iPad is free if you want to read and present documents.<\/p>\n
