Firefox 3, aka ‘Gran Paradiso’, is going to try to spice up search.

According to Mozilla the new version of the browser is going through its third stage of beta testing and the revolutionary bit is that it ‘will offer a combined search and bookmark tool via the URL bar’ reported the BBC.

It appears Mozilla has quickly caught on to the fact that search is becoming an all important function for online users and Firefox 3 is going to take a shot at improving this functionality which one assumes they hope will vault their standing in the browser war currently underway.

The really good news for me is that Mozilla haven’t lost the plot in their quest to improve the functionality of their browser. They are still keeping to the game plan of keeping things simple.
“In terms of features, we’ve tried very hard not to bloat the interface but to keep it simple, the way people like it, and to have new things appear when you need them,” said Mitchell Baker to BBC World Service’s Digital Planet Programme.

The last little nifty addition is the ability to work offline. Currently I’m not too sure how great a benefit this will be, it’ll apparently help prevent the loss of online info when traveling in places with a patchy connection by ‘remembering’ key data, but I’m willing to reserve judgment on this one until I’ve taken it for a spin.
