Post Telkom WIMAX being phased out - 27 June 2014

I've just got a call from a call centre operator, who has let me know that my WIMAX line will be disconnected as of the 27th.

When I asked what my options were, he mumbled something in broken English and told me someone from Telk0om would contact me.

    Huh?

Has anyone else been told this?

    What other options are there?

Got the same call today from same broken english dude. Pissed off since I do not have telephone line to my house.
What I cannot understand is why 27 of the month and not 30 of the month. Some random number decided by some Telcom Ahole since they have retrenched all their capable staff..

Folks, remember that they MUST provide you with a viable alternative means of communication at a reasonable price.

If not then get hold of ICASA to intervene on your behalf.

I have the same issue. Still have WiMax but got a letter as well (can't find it) to say it will be replaced. Unfortunately the connection option offered is capped at 10GB with no possible increase of data bundle etc.

I am in Midrand. BITCO no LOS, Neotel - no service. It's like the frikken stone age in this country.

Went Telkom LTE+ but the speed was pathetic. Canceled early and now have wireless with easyweb. Best move. No adsl due to no cables
