Quite a few of the vineyards I ride through still have the remains of summer's grapes on them - not harvested in years - they are also in a very poor state. Higher up on the hills there are a few blocks of Chardonnay that have also been left for dead. Quite a pity as the location of the vineyard is perfect for the cultivar but they are not economically viable. To me, who prefer my wine the be of a more full body (heavy) taste it is sad to see Chardonnay left like that.

The one in that picture is actually still maintained and harvested, it looks a bit rough but still has a few years on it.

It's sad to hear that there's no money in it.
We should be seeing a revival of wine farming like Italy. Clearly they're doing something we're not.

Yup. Acacia's of some sort. Forgive me for now knowing the exact species, but these have smooth, green trunks.

I know of the paperbark species and the more common Karoo ones, but these must have been introduced into the area as I don't really see them down this way

Same thing down here, see them in gardens around town. But none growing naturally in this part of the world. Nice looking tree though.
