None of the Huawei B315-xxx is LTE-A capable.

Get the B618-65d - best in the business currently on either contract R299 p/m +- or R2799.00 at any Telkom Direct store pending stock availability.

they say my area is covered but i don't want to get the modem and then end up getting the same speeds as LTE, that would be a waste of time

Yes you can use your uncapped sim in a LTE-A capable router like the B618 that Telkom sells for LTE-A.

The is can use LTE-A just fine. The B315 is NOT a LTE-A router so it works on normal LTE only.

Thanks Yuu, I've been asking around with the online shops which stock the B618, all of them have the 22d. Next stop are the Telkom stores.

    Thanks again!

I am pretty sure there is a 30 day cooling off period when you take a contract out? , so if it doesn't work, I can just cancel the contract within 30 days

    Found this ad,

From what I can gather, to get LTE-A or 5G on telkom you need the router to support 2300 TDD, for the rain network you need 2600 TDD.

The B315s-22 is LTE-A capable but only supports it at 2600, it should give 5g with a rain sim by the it won't for telkom, I think only cellc sold this model of the B315.

That B618s-65d in the ad sadly for that guy doesn't support 2300 TDD so it's useless for him and other rain users, it supports 2600 TDD that telkom is using.

    Haha the manliest!

From what I hear the B618 is a much more capable router, much better WiFi range.

LTE-A is when carrier aggregation happens. If CA does not happen or is not supported the device or network is not LTE-A.

    B315 does not support LTE-A.

Sim cards sizes differ. How do I overcome that without hacking the Telkom sim to fit phone? Phone is dual sim. Tray 1 = micro sim (primary, currently using for voice & data). Tray 2 = Nano sim (currently have MicroSD card here but would probably use this tray to test Telkom LTE-A). Suggestions please?
