    @PBCool

    Octotel is our complex fiber provider and they've finally given us notice that the fiber has gone live in our complex. I am a fairly hardcore gamer though and had some queries that I sent through to your support department over a week ago. Only got a response a day or two ago that my query was being looked into.

    Ticket ID is #COOL-20180612-111538

    But basically I wanted to find out how is your traffic handled locally? I am based in Cape Town and my last ISP decided to switch backbone providers at one point, resulting in CPT traffic being routed to JHB and then back to CPT. This added 30-50 ms which is a big deal for me.

    Also just wondering what sort of latency should I expect from Cape Town to the UK on your residential packages? I ping www.comedy.co.uk on my adsl connection and get anywhere from 173-180ish on average.

    I am hoping to get this info asap. If the numbers are reasonable, I will be joining you guys before the end of this month (assuming you can do an install sooner rather than later).

    From my experience, CPT will route to CPT without issues... If for some reason routes go to JHB it will be because of a fault and it will get attending too. If not post here and PBCool will sort you out...

    As for international latency to the UK i generally see around 140ms - 150ms and is very stable with little to no jumps.

    This coming from my connection in the northern suburbs of CPT

    Thanks for the feedback dude. That answers pretty much all of my questions. Looking forward to the 150 ms in games

    Will probably contact Cool Ideas tomorrow to see if I can get them to come do my install next week.

    And as DJZassie says, CPT is routed local here in CPT, If not, PM PBCool or post a MTR, traceroute here and he sorts it out.

    @All

    test with another ISP account, if the performance is the same you can blame Openserve... else open a ticket with CISP.

    So turns out Frogfoot did the preorder home installs for lynwood zone 1:3 but they haven't activated the network yet. So got a shining cpe and fibre line but can't use it. The frustration of getting fibre...
