Thread: Fibre in Stellenbosch

    Cool Fibre in Stellenbosch

    Good Day

So I've just been informed that Stellenbosch has dark fibre and Cybersmart told me that we require a R10 000 monthly income from my area before they will commit to make the fibre connection active.

You can few the offers here : http://www.lightspeed.co.za/home_users.php

I would just like to see the amount of interest in our area ( dalsig/dalsighof/bodalsig/brandwacht )

If we don't want Cybersmart we can look at other ISP's also but I just need to get a general feel of interest in the area to make a call and show the ISP's that we want the fibre.

    Regards

    :P

So it is possible, but the minimum is based on what they can offer for their packages. We can do a single user but the connection costs still have to be covered starting at ~R6k monthly.

I see you guys are bit expensive hey ? but on the other hand that 50 mb unshapped package looks really good but the price is just a tad to high for FTTH

That's the connection fees, but it is fully uncapped/unshaped. Works out better if you split like the 10+ signups people want.

You should really mention that on the site then. If it gets cheaper the more people sign up.

Actually adding a scale would be a great idea.

No new packages on DFA product, other pricing is looking around R1299 for 100mbps on other open-access networks(Vuma/TT). Should have an announcement on that in next week or 2. Really is a waiting game until someone actually fibres area fully. DFA route is if you have really no other way and keen to pay.

    Default Stellenbosch Fibre

Any news on this? I am looking to get fibre so I can provide better back bone to a complex wifi system...

So far Stellenbosch has really limited fibre access. See below.

    Frogfoot

    Openserve

Those are the only providers that I could find that have coverage in Stellenbosch. Would also like to hear what the plans are as I will be moving to Welgevonden next year.

I got an email from webafrica today that says there is fibre in my area in Stellenbosch through openserve and I can pre-order which I did.

Hope to hear back from them soon...

Update if anyone missed it - SADV is doing surveys to measure interest for FTTH in Paradyskloof and Die Boord. Everyone should please fill in the survey here - they need around 20% of properties in an area to go forward: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Paradyskloof_DieBoord

For other areas in Stellenbosch - contact them directly: http://www.sadigitalvillages.co.za/contact.html
