Johannesburg - A 32-year-old farm worker was shot and killed, allegedly by his employer, on a farm in Tarlton, outside Krugersdorp, over the weekend.

Details of the alleged murder were still vague.

However, police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela confirmed to News24 that the incident happened on January 6.

"The farmer phoned the police and told them that he shot a farm worker who stole his tractor. The police went to the farm and found the farm worker," Makhubela said.

Tarlton- On Saturday the 6th of January at approximately 11:00 the police arrested a 46 year old male in connection with a murder that took place at Matshelapad informal settlement.

It is alleged that the 43 year old victim was travelling on a tractor from his place of employment to his place of residence at Matshelapad when he was followed by the security officers. It was alleged that the victim stole the tractor that he was driving.

The victim was allegedly followed up until Matshelapad were he was shot at by the security officer. The victim suffered a gun shot wound on his head.

The shooting took place at an open field near Matshelapad. The police were summoned to the scene and on their arrival the situation was reported to be tense, as the members of the community attacked the security officers. The vehicle belonging to the security officers was badly damaged and the officer escaped unharmed.

The 46 year old suspect will make his first appearance at the Krugersdorp Magistrate Court today on charges of murder.

The Station Commander of Tarlton SAPS condemned all acts of vigilantism that eminates from such situations. She urged members of the community to work with the police and not against the police as in most cases crucial evidential material is or gets destroyed by such actions.

Mistakes in articles do not count as Fake News. The source even stated that the details were vague...

Well, reporting a total different story than what really happened (a farmer shot his worker in a labour dispute after attempting to steal a trekker vs the worker stole the trekker and security chased him and shot him) and also quoting a false interview with a police officer vs the actual statement released by police...

If you see this a small mistake and not fake news.... it is your thread.

It's based on a real event they just got some of the details wrong. Probably interviewed the wrong sources. They usually correct it in subsequent articles. And they admitted it was vague. I'm willing to give them the BOTD. As much as I also hate news24.

Fake News is usually completely fictitious stories.

If you understand the Motive & Funding behind any news, it does not matter whether its fake or not.
