Namibia has sensible property ownership laws
Basically no foreigners may buy homes not even Saffers
Homeowners wanting to sell must first offer their home to other Namibians then if not sold offer to the State

Then why would the property prices be so high there?

Default Europe’s fastest growing airline now flies to Cape Town

Cape Town is the latest destination in the long-haul offering to join the airline’s intercontinental range. An almost fully occupied Eurowings Airbus A330 heading for the South African capital took off on time late last night.

In future, flights will leave for Cape Town from Cologne/Bonn once a week, late on Sunday evening. The return flight from South Africa back to Cologne will depart every Monday at 18:45...............

I checked the car hire companies in CPT and Europcar or. Some such had a banner on its national
Site declaring a serious shortage of cars from Dec 13 in the cape due to holidays and
No stock left but the foreigners are already out in force in shiny new hire cars roaming our Cape with GPS and all
It's catch 22 . We need the revenues but we don't have enough water for the massive
Influx of visitors and the visitors in turn spend so much on accommodation and air fares they justify their use of water
The exchange rate makes it worse for us in that record numbers of foreigners are attracted to an area of water scarcity and the city has done nothing to warn these people
The Westin hotel has some sort of vague water declaration on landing page but also states they saved a million liters of water last year
    That seems an awful lot.

Well, tourism is a major source of income for Cape Town. Yes, it will aggrevate the water issue I am sure, but the city also needs the foreign dosh for their coffers. (Though I assume it takes a long time for money from tourism to filter through to the city. Not really sure how that works.

Would be cool if Norwegian Air starts long haul low cost to us via their UK bases. UK is also a big market for us when it comes to tourism.

Because those cheap flights usually involve sitting in some Middle Eastern airport for 4hrs and this is direct?

Will never fly with another airline if there is an option for Emirates.

Nope, I have no issue with them, but I will never fly Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, Turkish or Ethiopian IF I can fly direct. The added convenience of not having to disembark, sit around some dismal terminal for hours on end, go through security again and then take a second long haul flight more than makes up for any deficiency in other airlines that fly directly to where I'm going.

I booked flights for wife and son last week for December CPT- LHR return, cost about R25k for an adult and an 11 year old on BA direct. Emirates and Qatar were both about R30k for same dates.

Booked one for myself yesterday CPT return on BA at the end of this month. Over 1000 euros on BA. My company said decide quick as there are hardly any seats and if the 24 hour option expires, it will probably go up more the next day.

    Seems about right.

Ended up pay 25k for BA premium economy tickets, about 9k of which is the upgrade (that part was unplanned yolo).

Seriously though...1.5k for seat reservations. WTF

Paid about $800 for a return jhb-bhx on Lufthansa for Dec-Jan.

Advantage over other European airlines is 2 suitcases allowed.

Advantage over ME airlines was much shorter travel time
