Thread: Cell C Increase Price with 100% or 650% from 1 October

  1. #1

Default Cell C Increase Price with 100% or 650% from 1 October

CURRENT FAIR USAGE POLICY NEW FAIR USAGE POLICY
    1.2GB 600MB

With above the price stay the same but with the "fair usage" cut in half the price effectively increased with 100% but how many people will realize that?

I don't use Cell C myself but my daughter said that you can only purchase one whatsapp bundle a month so with the limit reduced from 1,2gb to 600 mb, how many users will soon be without data and then forced to purchase even more expensive normal data?

It was R12 for 1.2 gb but from Oct R12 for 600mb whatsapp data

If you used 1.2 gb during a month, you now have to pay R12 for 600 mb plus R79 for 500mb social media data

That means if you still want to or use 1.2 gb of whatsapp data, your increase is from R12 up to R91 and that is about a 650% increase for the same 1.2gb whatsapp data

If you can buy 2 whatsapp bundles, your increase is 100% from R12 to R24 for the same 1.2gb data
If you can't your increase is 650% from R12 to R91 for the same 1.2gb data

I would be hard pressed to use 1.2gigs of data on whatsapp. I am impressed.

If trees could scream would we be so cavalier about cutting them down. What if they screamed all the time for no reason?

For our working guys perhaps but not house wifes, students, children and many others that send and receive videos and pictures via whatsapp but that is not the point is it?

The point is that you now get a half bread or half tank petrol instead than full bread or tank petrol for the same price and the company "brag" that their price stayed the same.

Is still only R12, plus what does "fair usage" mean to CellC. They might not even do anything if you go over it.

Probably because the people you mentioned were abusing the crap out of it.

How many people realize that, unlike almost anything else, "data" is a two way income stream where two parties pay for precise the same data?

If person A send 100 mb data to person B, both pay for 100mb (thus 2 x 100mb) data even while it's precise the same 100 mb data within the same company.

R12 for 600mb still the cheapest you can get. I'm sure you're welcome to go somewhere else (not that you'll find cheaper).

If Cell C owned whatsapp maybe, but your data goes to a whatsapp server somewhere, and then when you download it, it comes from that whatsapp server. Cell C cannot even see it's the same data, because it is encrypted.

He means that, if I upload 100MB data on Cell C to you, I pay for that 100MB data, and when you download it, you use 100MB worth of data again, which you paid for separately from me.

Not sure why he'd think such an obvious point needs to be made on an IT forum, though.

Because I don't sit all day on a forum and post critic on everything.
