Do you sell both variations of the B618 router with one supporting the 2300Mhz [band 40] band and the other not? Would like an all network LTE-A router for future proofing .

As far as I can tell. This is a kick-ass router, but Afrihost somehow mentioned it's linked to your SIM. So who knows ?

Hi Yuu and Dan C, the router is a full blown LTE-A router with backwards compatibility for normal LTE as well.

The sim card is linked to the router.
However the router can take any other sim card from another network and it will work.
Just the rain sim card won't work in another router except for the issued one.

For legal sake... Please note that the router is only guaranteed to the supplied rain sim card and changing sim cards voids your guarantee and is also done without any guarantees of compatibility whatsoever.

    Hope that helps

From what I read, and don't quote me on this , is that the Rain SIM works on other routers eg. B315.

No the rain sim only works with the supplied router that we ship to you.
Other network sims do however work in your rain router.

Hi Venomous, we can't speak for what Ah does.
However our routers the rain sim card is locked to the device.
The device however is not locked to rain, so in otherwords the rain sim card cannot work in any other router but the supplied one but another networks sim card can work in the supplied rain router.

Please note the legal T&Cs though we mentioned above if that's what you plan on doing.

Are you guys doing something special to your routers then? I was using my RAIN SIM in my B315 until 3 days ago.

Also, the 22d variant of this router (supplied one) does not support TDD 2300Mhz which I think the earlier poster was referring too - which limits its use on Telkoms network.

    Huawei B618s-22d*Supports:
    4G LTE Band 1/3/7/8/20/38 (FDD 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz & TDD 2600MHz)
    DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS:Band 1/8 2100MHz/900MHz
    EDGE/GPRS/GSM:Band 2/3/5/8 1900MHz/1800MHz/850MHz/900MHz

    Huawei B618s-65d*Supports:
    4G LTE Band 1/3/5/7/8/28 (FDD 700/850/900/1800/2100/2600MHz & TDD 2300MHz)
    DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS:Band 1/5/8 2100MHz/900MHz/850MHz
    EDGE/GPRS/GSM:Band 2/3/5/8 1900MHz/1800MHz/850MHz/900MHz

I'm only wondering why there is such a great T&C variation from one ISP to the next, when it all comes from the same place - RAIN.

PS- I probably ask questions others were also thinking...
