Default Mistrust, backstabbing in DA meltdown as De Lille takes on Smith

Cape Town - The gloves have come off between Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille and mayoral committee member for safety, security and social services JP Smith, who believes she went behind his back in shutting down an anti-crime unit and then ignored him when he tried to find out about the matter.

De Lille on Monday announced that she had briefed her lawyers on "malicious and defamatory remarks" Smith made. They were expected to advise her on what actions to take.

This follows reports last week that she had ordered the shutting down of the City of Cape Town's special investigations unit (SIU).

    Never liked de Lille:

In her statement on Monday, De Lille elaborated on this.

"We all know that crime fighting is the responsibility of the SAPS under national government," she said.

"JP Smith wants to play cowboys and crooks by releasing all kinds of statements that the metro police [are] responsible for fighting crime."
So she just wants to leave our, the public, safety to the poorly run ANC government justice system? Maybe she is some kind of double agent.

I trust DeLille as far as I can throw her.

Sadly the DA has been scoring more and more own goals in recent months. They're turning into ANC-lite.

This. I think perhaps it's time for her to go back to Kromco and resume packing apples.

Always liked De Lille...strong woman, that does not take crap. says it as she sees it, when the old guard tried to micromanage her administration... she dealt with the issue effectively.

    That was swift action.
I am of a nation that would not allow that fear of death, of torture, of imprisonment, of exile or persecution should result in the perpetuation of injustice.

    Swift action -
Unlike the cover-up over her husband getting caught drunk driving in the early hours of the morning, which vanished after a month or three.
Remind me what the SIU did again?

It does not make sense though suspending them from the party if their actions are not only affecting the party but also the residents of the City, unless the DA feels that all is well on that front?

Where is the backstabbing this title promised me!?!??

Interesting that the DA took such swift action to suspend them, seems like the DA is putting everyone on a short leash these days.
