Default Former cop mauled to death by his own pit bull

Cape Town - A retired police officer was tragically mauled to death by his own pit bull at his home in Belmont Park, Kraaifontein, on Thursday night.

The dog turned on his owner, 50, as well as his wife, Ruth, who is in ICU at Karl Bremer Hospital. Neighbours say the couple were found lying in pools of their own blood.

Residents say Henry Kleynhans had just spoiled himself and his son to a new car and motorbike on the Tuesday before the incident. His new Harley Davidson was splattered with blood stains.

Paying the ultimate price of being a bad dog owner.

"Bad dog" owner or bad "dog owner"?.

    Tragic, RIP.
I am of a nation that would not allow that fear of death, of torture, of imprisonment, of exile or persecution should result in the perpetuation of injustice.

No its cant be pitbulls are loving and gentle creatures and make the best guard dogs.
I've walked for miles inside this pit of danger, a place where no one follows me, I walk alone.

I'd say they were properly trained to be like that against intruders.

I meant to say wasn't trained properly.

Most if not all pitbull owners are in denial of how dangerous this breed is.

Instead they blame it on the owners.

I agree that with pit bulls, owners are always the problem. They can be loving and manageable breeds like most other.

But having said that, we as a modern, responsible and conscientious society should realise that humans will always have a bad streak in them.

The best thing we can do is to eliminate the unnecessary bad factors like low-restricted gun usage and dogs that have the potential (under bad ownership) to cause some serious harm.
If you are looking for a hunk, a stud and an Italian stallion ... you better look someplace else because you won't find any here.
