Default Gridhost - not sure whether to cry or laugh

Last November Gridhost separated from Webafrica to start a new journey; a 10-year vision of growing into a specialised web hosting business for SMEs, offering a trusted online space for our customers. We know this was not a smooth transition and we apologise to those of you that experienced unacceptable service levels during this time.

Our priority is to repay your support and win back your trust.
We ask you to come on board with us as we refresh our brand. From 3 May, gridhost.co.za will become 1-grid.com. This is smart business for us. It gives us the space to innovate locally and globally, expand our offering, and bring all of our customers’ online business needs onto one grid.

Got this email this morning as well. Looks like they are trying to run away from their bad name.

The only thing I find sad here is you dude. You are the joke who can't let go of a bad break up. Let it go and move on already instead of spamming threads.

Looks like it. It was pretty damaged imo but let's see how it goes.

They need to do a lot more than a name change, to win customers back. Price drop for one...

From the email, it does sound like they thought long about this and they thing they know how to recover, but my fear is, the damage has been done and there are way better services around at better pricing as well.

Agreed. I would imagine that they have some plan ahead. I checked Thomas Vollrath online and he accomplished quite a bit.

Excited to see what they have in store down the line.

I had a read the article, its from 2015 . I specifically came online to moan about Gridhost. I have 3 sites on one hosting account, 2 sites don't do any traffic, one does 250 visitors a day. error 500 everywhere. I cant even run screaming frog as all pages error out. I even upgraded to "large" hosting account, all plugins and software upto date and php7.1. If fellow grid host customers check , on your cpanel , metrics, errors. Im riddled with unable to allocate memory error. only when they upgraded me to one of their largest packages did they stop.I should not need to spend over R700 for one small site. I did a test and move my site overseas, no error, GT metrics showed over 7 seconds load time improvement. Who is the next best ? Hetzner just had a big security issue?

Yeah the article is old but the split happened last year November. The email I received recently had his name on it so I guess everything going forward is now under his management. If you are looking to move away from these guys then look at the other threads on who the next best would be for those individuals. You will probably get the usual domains.co.za, hostking etc etc
