Default Roadworthy: do I have to be present?

I have bought a car, as a favour, for a friend who can't afford a lump sum, and while he could get finance, will be grateful to avoid interest payments. Yes, this may be unwise. And yes, I have thought it through. And, finally, yes, I have a contract with him.

The deal is that the car is registered in my name until he pays me back. That means that I am responsible for insurance, licenses and roadworthy (yes, he's paying for all)

I need to know if I can avoid wasting my own time going to roadworthy the car, or, if I can just send a copy of my ID and a letter stating I agree to someone else doing the roadworthy test?

Anyone can do the roadworthy test using their ID.

The test centre is interested in the vehicle. Not who's bringing it in.
