    Seems there was one fatality.

One person was killed while nineteen people were injured when an aircraft crashed into a factory in the north of Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon.

This happened shortly after the international chartered aircraft had taken off, said local CPF chairman Vernon Smith.

    Horrible.

Convair 340? That's a vintage plane from the 50s. What's it doing here in SA, I wonder?

The Convair is a late 1940s design, with some advanced features such as cabin pressurisation. It fulfilled much the same role as the older DC3, which was produced in huge numbers during WW2 (pre 1945). The two are mechanically similar, with large radial engines. Some have been converted to modern turboprop engines. The crashed aircraft had original engines, and this would seem a likely cause of failure.

They were too busy doing normal police stuff like catching corrupt politicians and other crooks.
