    THANKS
Now you have completely destroyed my WHOLE day -- by making me incredibly JEALOUS ...
Many people would pay BIG money for such an experience -- which would now be completely outlawed

Pretoria crash pilot still critical as second victim dies

The Convair 340 vintage plane was being piloted by a crew from the Netherlands, and it was due to be flown to Aviodrome Lelystad Aviation Theme Park.

A second person has died after being involved in the Pretoria plane crash that injured another 20 people. The deceased was one of three people on the ground when the plane crashed into a warehouse in Kameeldrift on Tuesday afternoon, according to the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).

The charter plane was carrying 19 people, including two pilots and a flight engineer, and was departing for Pilanesberg from Wonderboom airport.

The crew members were from the Netherlands. Two of the passengers were Australian with the remainder from South Africa.

The Convair 340 vintage plane apparently plunged to the ground soon after takeoff, crashing into a factory near Moloto Road. One person was declared dead at the scene, SACAA spokesperson Kabelo Ledwaba said.

Reports I'm seeing say: According to Australian newspapers both pilots belong to Qantas.

Three others were taken to hospital, including the Qantas pilots, Douglas Haywood and Ross Kelly, who had both flown for Qantas for over 30 years and had a combined 37,000 hours of flying experience. A Qantas spokesman said it was unclear whether they were piloting the plane at the time.

Rovos also had a Convair CV-440 (ZS-ARV) that was restored and sold to the ozzies, maybe the pilots were involved in that project as well.

Reminds me of the Fokkers we used to fly to Zanzibar. Can't tell you if I preferred them or the ex-SAA 737s that air Tanzania operated. Noisy as!

I did read that, and it is quite likely the same pilots. There are probably very few left who are qualified to fly that kind of aircraft.

ZS-ARV flew all the way from wonderboom to ozzie and performs at air shows over there, no way I would fly that old plane all the way to ozzie
