    Default Bright Meteor Joburg

I have just seen a very bright meteor streaking through the sky over Sandton.

    Did anyone else see it?

Aw unfortunately not. Have been sitting in front of a computer the whole day.

Sure it was a meteor and not a spy satellite burning up....

But no, did not see it from Cresta side.

Me too, but smokers get the privilege of freezing their arses off at selected points during the day - and seeing the sky.

Might not have been a meteor. It was bright green. I've seen thousands and thousands of meteors, but never one in the daylight. So could've been junk.

    Charming.

Hopefully one of the news stations or something picks it up.
For it is not for nought we age, decay. Another must come along; build the new day; discover a new way, a new dragon to slay.

Maybe it was an organic meteorite?

Nope! Aliens only interested in their favorite pass time ''Game of Probes''.

    Sounds pretty meteor-ish to me:
Why do meteors have a greenish color?
"These molecules emit light at green wavelengths, and can be bright enough to be seen with the naked eye. ... The most common metallic meteors are iron-nickel, so green is a common color."

Thanks, RaptorSA - I was beginning to doubt my own eyes.
