Angry Help me please for the love of god!!

Okay so for the last few weeks my adsl has been ****ty. Constantly dropping its speed , only a 4 meg line but that is all the exchange can handle. Telkom came to have a look , told me it was a high voltage problem on the under ground cable .

They apparently solved that , thing is , still getting disconnections , and speed keeps dropping , yes i am with openweb , but i have not had problems with them before .

Here are some stats from the router :

    Adsl Line Status SHOWTIME.L0
    Adsl Mode G992.5
    Channel Mode Interleave
    Up Stream 511 kbps
    Down Stream 4095 kbps
    Attenuation Down Stream 48
    Attenuation Up Stream 32
    SNR Margin Down Stream 7.9
    SNR Margin Up Stream 15.3
    Vendor ID RETK
    Firmware Version 4926d722
    CRC Errors 0
    Up Stream BER 124162e-7
    Down Stream BER 0e-7
    Up Output Power 12.5
    Down Output Power 19
    ES 0
    SES 0
    UAS 0

I have no idea what that **** means tbh , but what i have noticed was my echange has gone from adsl to vdsl . Errrr ? Could that have anytihng to do with the problem ? I have phoned telkopm they reset the post a few hours later it is stuffed again.

    I have a d-link DSL-2740U

Please folks , any help would be great speedtest.net ranges anything from 2.89 meg to 0.21 meg per second, and it mostly stays at 0.51

You probably have a bad joint somewhere on your copper, and when the wind blows or it rains or a bird lands on it or a butterfly flaps its wings, your line drops.
When this happens, ASSIA will drop your sync profile. Your line stats look fine for 4mbps.

...and the bad joint could be inside your building. Connect the modem as close as possible to the external line as you can to eliminate internal cabling issues... or simply run a fresh piece of comms cable straight from the point where it enters the building to the modem - even a temporary piece - to troubleshoot / eliminate that segment.

What Sinbad said. I had a similar issue, had countless Telkom techs out to my place. ONE, and only ONE followed the cable, and found that insulation on the cable coming over the neighbors yard was damaged. Every time it rained, boom, no ADSL, then gradually it got better and better as the cable dried. Replaced the cable and rerouted it, end of that issue.
