Default Angry commuters ‘hijack’ train after delays

A mob of agitated commuters commandeered an entire passenger train in Durban on Wednesday night – forcing the driver to change his route.

The incident drew the attention of the police‚ with bemused officers called to respond to reports of a “hijacked” train which had left the station in Montclair in the south Durban basin.

The train had been bound for KwaMashu but the passengers‚ irked by delays on the line‚ coerced the train operator to head in the opposite direction to Umlazi.

Metrorail spokesman Zama Nomnganga told TimesLIVE that the train had not been hijacked‚ but rather forced to divert its route.

I should try that on my next flight, had to fly to to Zurich to get to Dublin last time - would have been much quicker if the pilot just flew directly to Dublin.

In other words. The train wasn't hijacked.

Impossible, the train runs on tracks and the driver has no control over track switches.

At least we're not on a drive to eliminate people seen as threats to certain individuals (by throwing them off balconies, feeding them radioactive material and other chemicals)
    Yeah whatever mate

Imagine if there was a head on collision with deaths. Speechless!

They could have just powered down that train or the entire route.

Except if unplanned like the above situation then it could result in a head on collision with another train. That would have been news.
