I can't stand working in Corel.
Good for vector graphic layouts but ffs the interface and workflow drives me crazy.
    Rather just get Adobe.
(I've used gimp and inkscape a lot & still do - not always for photo editing but they've got their strengths for certain things. )

Not referring to Draw, they have Photo-paint and AfterShot in the suite as well

Edit: Personally I use Paint.net as it cover my simple needs and I dont need to wait for 5000 plug-ins to load simply to resizes or add text but I know the ladies in marketing use Corel Photo + Draw and Aftershots. Adobe wants you to mortgage your soul to use commercially esp now with the always online bull.

Adobes whole push to Monthly subs makes me avoid it like the plague.

There's a reason these products are the industry standard.
For many professionals there is no alternative to Photoshop, as they may require 100% Smart Object compatibility.

But if you don't have that specific requirement, Affinity Photo will work for most professionals and prosumers. Check out their website if you aren't clued up about it. It's serious software and I find it easier to do advanced edits with it than Photoshop. I also find the Inpaint tool (their equivalent of Content Aware) to be far superior, which makes a big difference to my life.

You don't have to suffer inferior software though to avoid Adobe subs. Check out Affinity Photo mentioned above. Once-off price.

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the useful advise.

Action Cam: SJ CAM SJ6 Ledgend (I got this as I was on a budget and at the time I wanted something for snorkelling - so if something happened to it, I wouldn't feel like I wasted a ton of cash).
Unfortunately with the cheap Chinese cams, you don't get any software.
The plus is that I can shoot the photos in RAW.

Going to investigate Affinity and the LR + PS subs as well as Lightworks for the video editing.

If any of you have done anything similar, I would be keen to see the end results.

Much appreciated. Will do that instead of spending the money upfront.
