BBC Show on crime in SA

Good documentary. Strange that we have to trust on BBC to make such a documentary...

Yeah I really wish we had a decent news channel in SA.

In the UK Sky and BBC are great and since they normally attack things at different angles you often get the whole story by watching both...

Can't believe that that old lady still lives in Hillbrow and feels safe

What I dont understand is that every South African knows that Hillbrow is like crime cesspool, yet why dont the police go in and clean it out, and maintain some sort of presence to ensure it stays cleaned up (well at least for awhile)

Incompetence, plus some are corrupt so it would put an end to the income they receive from the crooks in this area to stay out of it.

one of the kids asked near the end about crime replied:
"i think we must stop doing crime, we must think of one another"
brought tears to my eyes :(

there's another SA-focused documentary I ran across, which can be found in the usual suspect torrent sites, called
"Channel Four - Unreported World - The New Apartheid (2006)"

which deals with the growing racism inside SA, and the increasing xenophobia of the average citizen towards 'foreigners' (read 'black people from neighboring countries'). It's worth taking a look at.

Maybe as a resource, someone could make a thread gathering up the titles of various SA-related documentaries and news items that are 'available'
online in various ways - so that people can gradually get a good sense of what's unfolding in SA, as seen from the outside..

I watched this on the telly in the week and I realised how out of touch I am with the way things are in SA, sad though but there is hope.
