Apple unveils sleeker, faster, cheaper iMac

I wonder how much "cheaper" it will be when it hits SA's shores. . .

The Acer laptops also seem to suffer from the same inflation affliction. Markup starts at R3000 and is around R6000 up from the UK price on another model, so it's not just Apple.

Looks cool indeed, and with more power and lower prices it is sure to be a hit. Let’s just hope that SA retailers do not conveniently forget about the price cuts...

SA prices and the exorbitant mark-up is courtesy of Core.
 
I would be absolutely stunned if these came here at a lower price point than the existing models.

You cant give a discount on style like that!

Problem with the iMac is that if it made it into the office place all you PC users would be dumbfounded by its sleek lines and productivity would zero out overnight. :D

That and you wouldnt be able to use the my machine has a virus/spyware/trojan problem so you can skive off work. :)

Those prices and pics on ZAStore are for the old Gen 3 models.

You'll have to wait roughly a month before they sort themselves out with the new stuff.
 
I'm just hoping they get iLife and iWork '08 soon. :)
 
My thoughts, knowing Core... they'll bump up the prices slightly because they're newer and better than the last generation.

I think that is pretty much a given. With them controlling the flow I'm surprised Apple manages to have such a following here. :o
 
So the baseline price will be higher because there is no 17" model.

Also remember to add 14% onto the US pricing for VAT and then decide how much you are being riped off.

I can't wait to get iLife 08 will make iPhoto usable again because it slows to a crawl with the 5000 photos I have.
