They did use a thumper(?) A machine attached to the cables both in my house and the mains in the street and then a guy with what looked like a metal detector and headphones walked around listening for something.
UPDATE:
Power has been restored after 4 days. They found and replaced the broken cable (pictured below). I hope that this is the last update from me.
Thank you to everyone who kept me sane throughout this whole ordeal.
UPDATE
Eskom came today and the Eskom guy was shocked that they installed a 63A breaker in the main junction box in the street, I could also confirm that all my neighbours have 80A breakers. He replaced mine with an 80A breaker. It really seems as if the Eskom guys have zero standards when it...
I did some investigation and 2 years ago the same thing happened to someone else in the adjacent street, constant tripping and increased power usage. I suspect the Eskom electricians know exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done but they just do the bare minimum and hope the problem goes...
UPDATE
It tripped again within less of a week of Eskom installing a new breaker. I now believe it must be a cable issue to my house. I'm waiting on the Eskom electricians to arrive today (hopefully). I'll demand that they get a thumper out to assess the situation.
Timeline of tripping below...
UPDATE:
I don't live in a low-cost development. I'm in the Northern suburbs of Cape Town.
I've attached images of my breaker below as well as the breaker outside in the street (this one Eskom swapped out for a new one today). Eskom also inspected the metre box inside my house and found no...
UPDATE
I've contracted an electrician to do fault finding and he suggested I just replace all the wiring in my house since it's not up to compliance. The job should be done by Saturday which should rule out my house as the fault.
I also installed a new DB board 5 months ago with a main...
I've lost track of how many times I've logged this fault, I've even escalated it to the Eskom Senior and General Manager to no avail My local ward councillor is also not doing enough.
