10 minutes ago, my cheque card was also removed from Apple Pay -- sounds like things are still changing behind the scenes or some batch job is being run.
So a few hours ago, Standard Bank removed my credit card from Apple Pay on both my iPhone and Apple Watch; I then received this SMS:
Has anyone else experienced this recently? I definitely didn't make any requests on my side. I haven't been able to get hold of them on that phone number yet but...
The Shyft fee change is disappointing. I'd have expected the Mastercard international interchange fee to be significant enough that such a fee would not be warranted.
Some alternatives:
Capitec's Credit Card has no foreign transaction fees, if you're willing to give up some currency stability...
I loaded my Nedbank AMEX card into Apple Pay a while ago, and the same issue with physical Nedbank AMEX cards seems to be happening with it too — almost all payment terminals reject the card when tapping, and ask you to insert it manually. Woolworths and Pick n Pay are the only stores I've tried...
I've been experiencing this exact issue, to a T. Extremely frustrating that we're basically helpless here. Hoping Vodacom fixes this soon, as @iEverything had mentioned they're at least aware of their problem.
How would fraud protection work for something like this? Visa, MasterCard, etc. have very strict terms they impose on banks, requiring them to provide specific and strong consumer protections, in order to keep on issuing Visa / MasterCard cards.
I can't say I'm too optimistic on trusting the SA...
