People are quick to knock the Chinese brands but will blindly trust some Jap models without checking where these vehicles are made. Maruti Suzuki have been known for cutting corners over the years. Wouldn't touch them with your 10 foot pole.
Lexus is 13 years and 205k km. Still perfect but my needs are now changing. In any case it is due for some maintenance soon which wont be cheap (shocks, gearbox service, pads/discs and tyres) so timing is right to start thinking about it.
After a week of holiday driving on some very rough roads in the Drakensberg and KZN, as well as dealing with limited space, I’m starting to think it might be time for something new—especially if I want to keep doing more trips like this. Travelling with a 1 year old also brings its own...

Funny you mention this, i need to do them for my Lexus GS. Cannot find any aftermarket shocks anywhere. The only ones available are from the dealer. 24k for all 4 shocks and mountings (excludes labour btw).

All cross models use the same CVT in our market. In the US and Europe, the models they get have an e-CVT which is essentially a physical 1st gear then CVT after but we don't get that in our market. The e-CVT is on the 5th gen hybrid...
Pricing for these legacy brand bakkies are absolutely insane considering you can get a brand new GWM P300 LT 4x4 for the price of the base ranger single cab.. what a joke.
