I've had a recent experience with my Mecer 2400, which may be applicable here. Long story short, don't rely on the Mecer to carry your lithium-ion battery indefinitely.
To my understanding, the Mecer inverters are designed for lead-acid batteries specifically. Lithium-ion cells need different...
After doing some research, I understand that the two Hubbles might need to be jumped with a very low amperage first, until they reach a certain voltage? Can you recommend a charger I could get to accomplish this?
Will such Hubble batteries have suffered damage if they've been discharged this...
Hello all, after a week away from home, my inverter is behaving oddly. I have the Mecer 2400 with x2 Hubble LiPo batteries, and a battery equalizer.
Upon the power cutting for scheduled loadshedding, the whole thing shuts off. Pushing the power button does nothing. When the power comes back...
Thank you very much for the advice here, I'll see whether there is a difference if I leave the mains off for a minute or two after the power comes back. Incidentally, there's loadshedding right now, so I'll be able to test this within an hour. This unfortunately won't help when this happens at...
Hello all, I noticed a possible temperature and fan issue that I hope someone can provide insight to. I have a standard Mecer 2400VA hooked up to two Hubble S-100A Lithium Ion batteries. It also has a 24V battery balancer, as I've seen recommended a few times.
I got the lithium ion batteries...
Anyone know if lead-carbon batteries are meaningfully more durable than gel or other standard lead-acids? They're apparently a normal AGM, but with graphene added to the fibreglass inside, purportedly making it more resistant to deep discharges and higher-heat environments. I hadn't seen these...
Thank you for the feedback on this. The cabling is what I'm uncertain of, but I'll do some research based on which batteries I end up with. Right now I'm still only using 2x 12v, but I mean do a meaningful capacity upgrade in the future.
On the Mecer 2400, is it at all possible to hook up more than two standard 12v 100Ah batteries?
The reason for asking, is that I figure having more batteries would wear them out slower, especially when using standard lead-acids? I'm trying to figure out a way of expanding the capacity, as well...
I understand that it only affects how "quickly" the batteries are charged. 20A charges faster, but it's likely tougher on your batteries. 10A is a slower charge, but better for longevity.
I've only had to use the 20A setting when we entered stage 6 last, when there wasn't enough time between...
Is a deep-cycle lead-acid battery's lifespan improved by letting it run down close to empty, then letting it charge, as opposed to letting it only deplete to around 50% then charging?
My setup is a standard Mecer 2400 with two 12v100Ah lead-acids. Sadly, after only a year of use, their capacity...
I understand the concern now. I have not attempted to connect just one battery, but indeed have two. From what I gather, it wouldn't work with just one, as two are needed to create the required 24V.
They are currently wired as per the inverter manual's diagram: The batteries themselves are...
Big thanks for your insights into this. After reattempting to hook everything up again, the inverter works! This is what I think happened:
How loud and visible the spark was had me mistakenly believe something went very wrong.
I was unaware that the inverter doesn't power on or react, without...
Hello all, I think I messed up my new Mecer inverter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
For context, I got a Mecer 2400VA, with two 12V100AH batteries. I think I screwed up by connecting the cables to the batteries first, then to the inverter unit last.
Batteries were hooked up in...
