ARB rules against Incredible Connection for refusing delivery of R12,999 65-inch TV deal

They just pulled the same thing on me. I know this is an old thread, but I found the thread by googling this Incredible scam. Advertised a very good deal, I had to sign up for their website, loyalty program ("+more"), give them my contact details and address, and at the final step of payment...

Synology NAS reviewers required – You keep the device

As someone with a rather unreliable and slow 4-bay Seagate BlackArmor NAS, I have been looking at Synology drives for a replacement. I have tens of terabytes' space required, as I have hundreds of videocassettes that need digitising, plus I'm always creating new drone and other photographic and...

    Android box got BVN

BVN is now available on Astra 4A at 4,8 degrees East. I've done a few installations for seniors who can't be bothered with online services. They just want to turn on their TV and get their BVN.

    Windows 7 continues to survive

Unlike earlier commenters, I do actually enjoy Windows 10 far more than 7. But I also have Linux running on many devices and servers that they'll never know about because those scenarios are not factored into their survey. It gives Joe Public (including key decision-makers) the false impression...

    How Old Is Your Account?

So, I did click around trying to find this, but no luck. Seeing that I signed up here in 2004, There's a high likelihood that some of the members on these forums weren't born when I joined. I'd love to know what percentile I'm in as far as account age goes. While here, my internet access has...

Do you think DStv should be allowed to bundle Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with their offering?

Surely you agree there must be a limit to a monopoly? Just in terms of logical conclusions. Assuming that it's a product you actually need, say insulin rather than entertainment, and there is only one provider because they could afford all the rights, and they can charge whatever they want, and...

Do you think DStv should be allowed to bundle Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with their offering?

I'm just thinking that, because satellites are up in the sky, and DStv uses no locally-regulated frequencies, they could, for all intents and purposes, set up shop on an island anywhere in the Indian Ocean and uplink to the satellite and back down to South Africa, and they wouldn't need a...

Do you think DStv should be allowed to bundle Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with their offering?

Good point - maybe the solution is to allow all providers access to all content, at the appropriate licencing fee, based on their viewership. I mean, my ISP doesn't have exclusive rights on which websites I can consume. Yet.

Do you think DStv should be allowed to bundle Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with their offering?

That's the whole definition of a monopoly: They just had the funds. I'm all for a free markets, but there are regulatory limits when one giant behomoth buys up all the smaller competitors and then charges whatever they want for the product. Then they can go out and kill more smaller players. The...

    Evotel / D-Link

Gotta love this. After a weekend spent troubleshooting why I can't use a higher-end D-Link router instead of the one provided by Evotel, here's the thing: The PPPoE username and password were copied and pasted into the input fields on the D-Link. PPPoE specifies a maximum password length of 64...

When do you think South Africa will hit its COVID-19 peak?

Oh, and also of note, the number of active cases peaked on Jul 20. These are the official reported numbers from global stats. Obviously stats come with caveats, so bearing that in mind goes without saying. However, reading through the thread, half of the posts aren't even sticking to the...
