Oh that’s starting to make sense then because London was excactly the same. It’s just the NA pings that are a little wierd but once I get back I’ll give you all the comparisons.
Also do you mind if use the ping times from sites like meter.net as well? Those have the most servers for EU and NA to test. I’ll still post my trace routes from PingPlotter as well.
I return to my work on the 5th. So I’ll do the trace routes when I get to my office and show the comparisons to my home then. Currently in PE so no point in sending that data. The Madrid one is the one that shocked me the most tho in my Joburg ping time.
So explain in depth to me why this is then. I get 5ms to JHB from Pretoria yet the latencies are still incredibly higher for EU in Pretoria then at my office(work uses Afrihost) in JHB. Madrid, Palermo, Ireland are prime examples of places being almost 20-30ms lower in JHB, yet London seems to...
@PBCool Although I do have a few questions. Why is my lat in Pretoria so much worse then it is my JHB work office? For example there’s a lot of EU countries like Spain that I get 165 ms in JHB but 190-200 in Pretoria. Same with some American states. I get almost 20ms lower in JHB to somewhere...
I know it’s also a large hit on capacity but more redundancy would be nice with this too. If SACS is anything to go off by that 123ms will probably be 130-140 but it’s still a huge improvement.
So as the new year approaches I have some questions regarding this https://techcentral.co.za/paratus-express-route-point-to-point/254734/
Any plans to implement it next year or anytime soon? Looks like a way better option for us in JHB than WACS. I know it’s probably heavy in cost but this...
Man I really hope SACS can make a return eventually or something similar. Those lower pings to America really helped a ton, espesially if you were like me and played a ton of p2p games like Dark Souls and Warframe. Made a huge difference in those games. @CoolHelp @PBCool @TheRoDent just pinging...
@CoolEscalator and @PBCool I know I brought this up before but any news or update on whether you guys will be expirimenting the new Paratus route to London from JHB? I Know theres a lot factors to consider regarding what the actual test results will be but anything to get lower latency will...
Makes sense but if the latency can be brought down to CPT levels it would make a noticeable difference to us over here. Hopefully it can work out. Would really be nice to see it be tested
Also question for the CISPs reps here. After all the cable problems have been fixed will you guys be trialing the new Paratus Fibre link from JHB to London? Looks really promising and could bring our lat down to CPT levels of latency.
