    I would call that simple problem solving, or just thinking. Critical thinking is meta-cognition, being critical about the thinking itself. Oh we teach it here, it's called philosophy. Let me know if you want recommendations on starter material.

    Critical thinking is a meta skill, it isn't the subject matter itself. You first learn the regular conventions before you go taking liberties being "creative" .
