I have to say that I have been relatively pleased with the performance of Rain 5G, the R699 capped version.
I also often take the router with me to other places (usually cafes around Centurion but also to Arcadia where the girlfriend lives) and it's been very fast and stable at the places I...
Besides for load shedding in my own area (I don't have a UPS so can't test), when surrounding areas have loadshedding my speeds have been fine. My neighbour, who is on Telkom Mobile LTE, has terrible speeds at that time.
What I care most about is, is there a platform that provides a better multiplayer experience for me in South Africa? When I got the Xbox One quite early on, you had to jump through hoops to be matched with other South Africans. Whilst it was not the case with Playstation.
Is it different now?
I do think Rain throttles torrents quite strongly. It seems capped at 60kbps.
Doesn't bother me much. Everything else I care about is fast, and I have uncapped internet finally, lol.
Oh my gosh! This sounds incredible!
If it has the desired impact, this totally takes the cake for me. Even if Xbox has 15% better graphics. (just thumbsucking a % there)
Yeah. I assume you'd prefer better graphics over quicker load times? :)
I mean, I do want the graphics to be decent. But I'm actually salivating at the prospect of almost no screen load times, or no load times between areas of a game! It is its own kind of immersion for me. Perhaps this is...
Yeah, I was kinda stressed about whether my service would be good or bad. Turns out it was good, yay!
What helped tip me over the edge to try, was that there are no fixed contracts, and I looked on my local FB groups and did a search for "Rain" / "5G". I saw that 90% were very satisfied, so I...
Let's ignore exclusives, and focus on these two apparent differences:
Better graphics on the Xbox (apparently it is better specced for this), or faster load times on Playstation (apparently that's what the special SSD will mostly do).
What do you prefer?
I'm leaning towards the much faster...
I've been really happy so far. I activated two days ago. And the router is inside the house, lol. The ping is usually 15 or so - I've been hoping for pings less than 10, even though I'm not gaming (yet, I want to start in the near future). This is on the 5G Home package. I'm in The Reeds...
I've been wondering if Rain 5G would be worth it, whether the package where they cap the speeds at 30mbps or 200mbps.
Have you all noticed quicker latencies on the 5G network? That seems to be a major selling point, especially in terms of online gaming.
