People who paid E-tolls will not get a refund: Cabinet

SANRAL has claimed that the toll is a tax, which would prescribe after 30 years. OUTA pointed out that SANRAL is a state-owned company rather than the state itself, so this does not apply.

People who paid E-tolls will not get a refund: Cabinet

The debt on the tolls prescribes after three years, meaning that most of it is no longer payable. If they wait another ten months before fully implementing this (which is easy for the government), then all of the debt will have prescribed. With no outstanding debt the case for refunds will be moot.

Let's hope that they have put a lot of development effort into making this secure, especially considering that...

Downgraded safety equipment for top-selling Chinese cars in South Africa

I did some structural steel design a while ago for a Chinese company (non-automotive). The strength of their cheaper steels is very low, possibly the lowest I have seen. If the vehicles were designed for higher strength steels and then these cheaper ones were substituted it is unlikely that the...

The seven experts chosen to review South Africa's next AI policy

Good to see that they are also including specialists on the legal side. There should also be people on economics, labour and social impact. Possibly the Department will be consulting separately on these matters. Let's hope that they pick the correct people for these inputs this time round.

    New The PC Build Thread

As far as I know Archicad benefits from good single core performance, so an AMD might be good here. How about an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB to fit in with the budget.

I also had success with that in the past. In my recent attempt that option was not available on their portal for wireless replacement phones. Hopefully it comes back sometime.
