The 1.4T and S tronic combo is a bit iffy. The motor is amazing but somehow that gearbox eats clutchpacks. It's the same with VW. 1.4T and DSG seem not to play well. There have been clutch and gearbox updates but 2 clutchpacks on a Jetta later and I'm a bit gunshy.

The door lock/latch is a complete unit, it has little motors in it to operate the latch and lock. It could be the signal to it, like a bit of corrosion on the plug pins, or the motor has a dead segment on it then they replace the unit as there are no "serviceable parts" in it.

Cambelt manufacturers guarentee their belts. Some offer full service life and others only 60k km or what ever is specified. I change mine when the service book says. If it fails prematurely then the workshop needs to claim and not pass the cost on to you. Most premature failures are incorrect...

R20- 40 its normally one or two CR2035 or LR type battery if you do it yourself. Some are sealed and charge from the car then I don't know, probably replace fob at some stupid price.

That probably means your battery is ready for retirement. If you extended your motor/service plan batteries are covered by that last I checked.

If you use a booster pack or something similar sure no issue really, but the electronics on those cars are very sensitive and using another running car has in some extreme cases fried parts of the electronics due to the charging and electrical systems of older cars not being as stable and...

Correct. You still have to do fluid changes. Don't belive that crap about sealed gearbox and fluid good for the life of the gearbox. There are friction plates in an autobox and it shares fluid with the torque converter, particles of that can clog up fluid galleries and valves , the modern torque...

All proper autos have a torque converter. CVT uses a belt with some slip and dual clutch uses clutches much like a manual.

It's a 7 speed box 1,2 and 3 are fairly close and it tries to be as efficient as possible so it stays in first for like a second before changing to 2rd and 3rd then down to second then 3rd fourth all the space of 3m. It's called hunting in an autobox. So in a normal manual you would crawl in...

Took them 2 weeks to do the last claim, and we had to fight. The thing drove like crap shuddering slightly on changes from first to second and second to third and they said it's "normal" eventually the other service advisor sorted us out. So I'm going to try avoiding that lol.

We just put it in sport. Try telling my Dad and wife to drive an "automatic" car like a manual in traffic just causes confusion [emoji23]

VWSA recommends putting the 'box in sport mode when in traffic to save your clutch pack. There is a service bulletin out for it. We had a clutch pack start failing in a 1.4 TSi at around 40k km. There is a known issue with the 1.4 TSi and DSG combo across the whole VAG range in the earlier...
