I think we'd have better racing and decision making on the first lap if this first-lap-first-corner incident forgiveness idea is dropped.
We often hear these are the best drivers in the world, so the FIA should get rid of that ready made excuse which is ripe for abuse.
Verstappen punting Le Clerc off the track in Austria back in 2018 or whatever always occurs to me whenever he has one of these incidents.
By allowing that incident, the precedent was set and here we are years later wondering when he'll be reined in
I think the racing would be much better if they simplified the rules to "always give the space". Then you wouldn't have this arbitrary fully alongside/predominantly alongside or whatever this week's version of it is.
Your job as a driver is to make sure that there is space on the outside/inside...

Maybe some of the flat track bullies will be...
I like the Alonso quote about leaving space and it's my general yardstick when evaluating overtaking incidents. It signifies that the person overtaking has judged his attempt to pass correctly when both drivers have space to contest the corner.
If the defending driver has to consider backing...

If we didn't know it already, Jos supports his son and not the team
Despite RB being dominant, I'm glad it's no longer the case where half the field gets lapped by the winner. Teams making small improvements can make big strides up the grid. Hopefully the teams benefitting from the way the...
The first race of the season was hardly over and to me it seems like the writing is on the wall. In the past, teams like Merc and Ferrari could afford to throw money into car development during the season and probably drag themselves back into contention in the space of a few races.
With the...
